Meet The Team - Ruth Byrne

Welcome to the first in a series of posts within which we speak to the beating heart of H1, our hardworking and seemingly unstoppable employees. First up is Ruth Byrne, one of our Senior Recruitment Consultants

What’s your nickname?

Ruthy and Wee Ruthy are popular with the family.

Tea or coffee?

Coffee, unless something is wrong, and then tea – it’s comforting, especially if biscuits are involved…

Favourite snack?

I love snacks! But that makes it hard to pick a favourite. I love grapes, apple slices with peanut butter, beef jerky, carrot sticks and dip, any cake, a wee biscuit…

Dogs or cats?

I have a wee rescue cat called Sophie, but she is the most dog like cat I have ever known. My partner calls her Sophie-Dog.

Netflix or Amazon Prime?

Netflix, although Hanna… that’s a toughie! Netflix.

Next holiday?

Canada to see family, in August hopefully. I have cousins there and it’s such a lovely vibe.

When did your H1 journey begin?

I’ve worked here since Hallowe’en 2016. The journey has certainly been more of a treat than a trick.

What does a typical day look like?

Each morning begins with loads of emails – which I’m sure if the same for a vast majority of us in this day in age. What did we ever do without them?! Top tip – if you need something urgently from me, or any one of the team here, don’t be afraid to pick up the phone. We won’t bite – in fact we love to chat. Show me someone in recruitment who doesn’t love a natter? See my answer to question four below…

Once the emails are out of the way? Then it’s a case of deciding which plate is the most pressing; which one needs a wee top up or a spin.

What’s the best aspect of your job?

I’m so lucky, my day mostly consists of chatting to very lovely people – whether they are clients, candidates or even the occasional telemarketer..I adore the variety, too. It’s a cliché but no two days are ever the same, and the time just flies by; there’s never a dull moment in healthcare recruitment.

And the worst?

I would say finding the balance between supply and demand is the toughest part of the job. It can also be tricky finding the right people for each location, but that’s only because we have so many amazing clients and candidates and I want to help them all!

What makes you proud to work for H1?

The commitment to finding the right fit. We are so supported in making sure we find the best people – those with the right experience and a drive for excellence.

What three words summarise H1?

Fast-paced family fun
